Abstract paintings

Last Christmas, I decided to handmake my gifts. As my usual style of painting is realistic and a painstakingly long process as I like a lot of detail, I decided to try my hand at abstract. Major reason being I didn't have a lot of time as Christmas was fast approaching plus I had a number of presents to make. I just randomaly thought of shapes and colours and checked out google for abstract art. I did try it once in college but I failed as it still ended up being realistic because I kept trying to 'fix it'! Hahahaha!
Check out these three that I painted and let me know what you think :)

Wheel of Brisbane

Wheel of Brisbane
Acrylic on canvas
Size: 25.4 x 30.5cm/ 10 x 12 inches

I painted this as a gift for a friend who lived in Brisbane
for about 4 years but was going back to her home country. She wanted something to remember her stay here and Southbank Parklands, where the 'wheel' is, was one of her favourite spots.

Bag made from old jeans

I have these pair of jeans that I've been keeping hoping it'll fit me again one day...in the future. I loved it because I had beaded one leg and the front pockets, too. But I gave up because it'll never ever fit me again. So, one rainy Saturday, I decided to make it into a bag. I have already made one each for my girls so this one is mine :) I already cut out the pieces and was sewing it up then found a tutorial from a sewing group in facebook and incorporated that. I also put in a zipper to secure my stuff. I love it and used it last Sunday. Got nice compliments, too :)

Wedding ring pillow

I made this wedding ring pillow for a wedding in January 2012. As you can see, it is heart-shaped with ruffled lace and organza and embellished with pearls, glass beads, rhinestones and satin roses. After making this, I fell in love with it! Hahaha! But I'm happy to say the bride loved it, too. I just wish I have enough spare time to make one for myself minus the ribbons for the rings.

If you love it, too, and want something like this for your wedding, I can create it for you. Just let me know what shape, your theme and colour. I can also do other wedding accessories which is posted on my facebook page.

Seeing Green

I'm changing my background for something soothing. I've been working a lot these past 2 weeks and was straining my eyes. Then I remembered what my favourite high school teacher taught me. When your eyes are tired, stare at something green for about a minute or two. Go on, try it!

It's so refreshing, isn't it?
